Reviews led by customer photos
What they do
The review section (5,438 reviews at capture) leads with a "Reviews with images" photo carousel: customers' own shots of the mat in their homes, studios and gardens. Below sit a ratings histogram, an AI-generated "Customers say" summary, review search, topic chips (fit, size, weight, strap, bag...) and a "with media" filter. Reviewers are marked Verified Buyer.
Why it works
Real customer photos are the most trusted content on a product page precisely because they're unpolished; wooden floors and cluttered living rooms read as proof in a way studio shots can't. Leading with the photo strip surfaces that proof before anyone reads a word. The topic chips and search turn five thousand reviews from a wall of text into an answer engine ("what do people say about the strap?"), and the summary catches the skim readers. Encouraging photo uploads at review time is what feeds the whole loop.
Makes sense when
Any store with meaningful review volume. The pattern needs the prompt at source: the post-purchase review email has to ask for a photo (ideally incentivised) or the carousel stays empty. Okendo, Yotpo and similar all support media-first layouts and topic filtering on Shopify.
