Add-on products you can tick before adding to basket
What they do
Directly above Add to Bag sits an "Additions" carousel: the £18 yoga mat cleaner (and a mat bag next in the carousel) each with a plain checkbox, "Add this to my order!". Tick it and the add-on rides along with the main purchase; no navigating away, no interstitial.
Why it works
The cross-sell happens at peak intent, in the buy box, and costs one tick rather than a separate product-page visit. The products are true accessories to this mat, not generic "you may also like" noise, so the offer reads as helpful rather than pushy. Average order value goes up without an extra decision point in the journey; compare that with cart-page upsell popups, which interrupt after the decision and often cost conversions.
Makes sense when
Any product with an obvious consumable or accessory (cleaner, refill, spare, case). Keep it to one or two genuinely relevant items at a small fraction of the main product's price, and make it a checkbox, not a link away from the page.
