What they do

A "TOP 10 IN CATEGORY" carousel sits above the main grid, each product carrying a numbered badge (1 to 10). It's a ranked bestseller list scoped to this collection, not sitewide.

02

Why it works

374 products is a paradox-of-choice problem, and a ranked shortlist is the strongest social proof format there is: not just "people like this" but "this is the number one". Shoppers who don't want to browse can pick from the ten and be done, and the numbers give the strip an editorial, chart-like feel that a plain "bestsellers" row doesn't have. Reducing the decision to ten cuts fatigue exactly where it's highest, on entry to a big category.

03

Makes sense when

Collections big enough that choice is a real cost (say 50+ products) and with enough sales data for the ranking to mean something. On Shopify, a "best selling" sorted sub-collection or a metafield-driven section gets you most of the way there.
